| What is magnesium? |
For its lightness and recyclability, magnesium is expected to replace
plastics, aluminum and steel. Magnesium, its atomic number is 12, is the
lightest among the metals for structural application.
Magnesium itself has been discovered about 100 years ago. However, its application
was limited mainly due to its weak corrosion resistance and high cost.
But, magnesium has been re-discovered recently thanks to the development
of the corrosion resistant alloys and the price down of the raw material
produced in various cities including China.
Above all, Thixomolding ® has succeeded to widen the applications using
magnesium.
Thixomolding ® is the molding process which enables the safety operation
and high quality Mg products. |

| Magnesium as natural resources |
| Magnesium is the eighth plentiful element in all of the consisting
substance of the earths crust. It is found in seawater (refer to below
table 1), or as magnesite and dolomite ores in most countries. It can be
considered that magnesium is virtually inexhaustible. |
