From Test to Production

MuCell Development Center

In April 2001, JSW established the MuCell Development Center in Hiroshima Plant, which is the first in the world except the development center of Trexel Inc. Operation will start in the Center in October 2001. Another MuCell development center of JSW will be established in Singapore in July 2002.
The MuCell Development Center is equipped with MuCell extruder, accessories and evaluation testing machines for supporting customers in development and commercialization of products using MuCell technology.
The activities of the center include:
1.Tests to verify the foaming properties by material
  2.Technical guidance for clients to develop and produce products
  3.Basic and applied studies on resin materials, molded products and recycling.

From Test to Production

The flow before starting the production of MuCell products comprises three steps:
Step 1 : To study the foaming properties of materials;
  Step 2 : To develop products;
  Step 3 : To start the production of the product;
Before starting development and production of products, a client must conclude a license agreement with Trexel Inc.

Step 1:Foaming Property Test: Foamability Study

JSW carries out extrusion tests with materials selected by a client to verify foamability by the MuCell extruder.
JSW asks the client to sign non-disclosure agreement with JSW and tests are conducted on a chargeable basis in the MuCell Development Center.
An agreement with Trexel Inc. is not required in this stage.The client is not expected to witness tests. The results of tests are reported to the client in the form of samples and report.

Step 2:Development of Products: Development License Agreement (D.L.A.)

JSW carries out extrusion tests with materials selected by a client to verify foamability by the MuCell extruder.
JSW asks the client to sign non-disclosure agreement with JSW and tests are conducted on a chargeable basis in the MuCell Development Center.
An agreement with Trexel Inc. is not required in this stage. The client is not expected to witness tests. The results of tests are reported to the client in the form of samples and report.
Determine a product to be developed and material for it. Development License Agreement (exclusive / non- exclusive) must be concluded between the client and Trexel Inc.
There are two options available in actual operation for development:
1. The client purchases a MuCell machine for testing and takes charge of the development of MuCell products.
  2. A machine that the client owns is modified for use of development of MuCell products.
  In either of the cases, JSW offers clients technical guidance on a chargeable basis.

Step 3:Production of Products: Commercial License Agreement (C.L.A.)

Determine the product to be developed and materials for it. Commercial License Agreement (exclusive / non- exclusive) must be concluded between the client and Trexel Inc..
We ask the client to purchase a MuCell extruder for manufacturing MuCell products.
Sanpho Group will help the client in concluding a license agreement with Trexel Inc..
