Launch of JLM3000-MGIIeL ultra large size magnesium injection molding machine

In December 2022, JSW has l aunch ed JLM3000-MGIIeL, a magnesium injection molding machine with a mold clamping force of 3,000 tons (29,400 kN), the largest in the world, following 1,300 ton mold clamping force of JLM-MGIIe series, which adopts the Thixomolding method.
JLM-MGIIe series is the third generation of JSW's magnesium injection molding machines, 4 types (JLM280-MGIIe, JLM650-MGIIe, JLM850-MGIIe and JLM1300-MGIIeL) has been launched and delivered and well received by customers, and we developed larger model responding to the market needs this time.
EV is increasing and cars are becoming much more digitalized, which lead to increase the number and the size of displays installed.
Magnesium alloys have lots of advantages such as lightweight, rigid, high heat-dissipation, electromagnetic shielding, stability in dimension, and recyclability. With these advantages, magnesium alloy parts molded by Thixomolding method, an environment-friendly molding process that requires no melting furnace and no flame-retardant gas, are used as frames and supports of automotive displays, and are highly evaluated by auto manufacturers. Displays for cars are expected to become much larger, so larger magnesium alloy parts are required in the market.
JLM3000-MGIIeL has been developed with clamping force set up to meet these needs.
Furthermore, in addition to the abundant expertise in magnesium injection molding machines accumulated in 30 years, JLM3000-MGIIeL incorporates the electrification technology cultivated in plastic injection molding machines and adopts a new electric mold clamping device in pursuit of environmental performance.
The new system enables high-precision, high-quality molding of large magnesium parts, which had been difficult to apply the Thixomolding method before, and supports our customers in making their production line clean and environment-friendly.
