Community Beautification

We engage in cleanup activities around our plants and along commuting routes.
These activities are also opportunities to engage with local communities and raise the environmental awareness of employees.

Hiroshima Plant

Since 2003, the Hiroshima Plant has held a clean campaign twice a year to clean routes around the company.
With the cooperation of local residents as well as employees, the 36th clean campaign in June 2023 was conducted by a total of 78 people, and the 37th clean campaign in November 2023 was conducted by a total of 64 people. In February 2024, we received an award from Hiroshima City for 20 years of environmental beautification activities in recognition of our ongoing activities as a place for community contribution and interaction.

Yokohama Plant

As part of our community contribution activities, the Yokohama Plant conducts beautification activities for commuting routes as part of the annual training for new employees, and all employees also conduct beautification activities inside and outside the premises every year. In fiscal 2023, we carried out beautification activities on commuting routes in April and beautification activities inside and outside the premises in December.

Meiki Plant

At the Meiki Plant, employees carry out beautification activities outside the premises twice a year as a community contribution activity. In fiscal 2023, we collected trash from the side roads around the plant twice in May and October, and properly separated and disposed of a total of approximately 22 kg of trash.

Education

We conduct plant tours, workplace tours and work experience activities.
We view these as opportunities to interact with local communities and convey the appeal of monozukuri to students and other visitors.

Community Exchanges

Hiroshima Skill Fair

On November 15, 2023, we co-sponsored and exhibited at the "40th Hiroshima Skill Fair" organized by Hiroshima Prefecture and the Hiroshima Vocational Ability Development Association.
A total of 187 people, mainly elementary, junior high, and high school students, visited our booth, making it an even bigger success than last year. In addition to the demonstration of plastic block molding using a small injection molding machine and eraser making using a manual injection molding machine, which were conducted last year, we introduced the recycling process and showed how plastic blocks are crushed and converted into raw materials (repelletizing) using a crusher set up in the booth. By introducing plastic recycling as one of the themes of the exhibition, we were able to convey the importance of separating trash for recycling, as well as provide visitors with an opportunity to experience the appeal of manufacturing.

Mikasayama Shrine Annual Festival

Mikasayama Shrine in Muroran, Hokkaido, which was built at the time of JSW's founding based on the desire to ensure our future development and safe operation, holds an annual festival in August that is attended by many local residents.
